Is It Time To Replace your Kitchen Cabinets in Virginia?

You moved into your home a few years ago and you’ve got some very unsightly cabinets.  Most newer homes tend to have fashionably designed cabinets that make your Virginia kitchen look fantastic but many of the older homes don’t.  This can create quite a dilemma when you finally have to do something with those cabinets.  How do you know when your kitchen cabinets in Virginia simply need to be refaced?  How do you know it’s a lost cause and you have to replace them?  By understanding this important distinction, you can save yourself a lot of time and manpower.

Refacing a cabinet can be confusing if you’re not clear on how to do it.  When your kitchen cabinets in Virginia are eligible to be refaced, that basically means you can install new doors and drawer fronts to the parts that are showing where everyone can see.  Any other wood that is showing can be covered with another material so it matches the new cabinet faces.  When you have your kitchen cabinets in Virginia remodeled, this means that someone will come in, take all of the cabinets off the walls and install brand new cabinets.  Depending on the current state of your cabinets, you will have to decide which of these options seems best for you.

If the interior of your cabinets are still in good condition and the overall cabinet body is still in good condition, it doesn’t make much sense to replace the whole thing.  When you contact your Virginia kitchen remodeling company, they will come in and do either refacing or replacing, depending on which you ask them for.  If you decide to reface your cabinets, the Virginia kitchen remodeling company will come in, remove all the doors and drawer fronts from the cabinets, and get the current finishing on any other exposed areas primed for remodeling.  Once the preparation process is completed, the remodeling company will start converting the door faces and cabinet faces to the new design.

If you’re not sure if you can reface the cabinets, you’ll want to think about a number of things:  if your Virginia kitchen layout is bad, remodeling is the way to go.  If your cabinets are falling apart, were built poorly, have any structural issues such as rotting or leaning, you’ll need to remodel.  The remodeling process is much more labor intensive and can take a Virginia kitchen remodeling group more time to complete.  However, even though you’re trying to save time and money, skipping remodeling and only refacing is not advised.

By taking the time to examine your current Virginia kitchen cabinets, you’ll be able to tell with a few quick checks on what type of fix your cabinets need.  If you simply don’t care for the way your kitchen cabinets in Virginia look but they are structurally sound, refacing your cabinets is the right way to go.  If your cabinets are clearly falling apart, rotten, and pose any kind of safety threat, you should get the cabinets remodeled right away.   Understanding the distinction between refacing and remodeling can make a world of difference on your Virginia kitchen as well as your wallet.
